Week 10 beginning of the offseason.5/8/2022 As the season ended last week it's time for the offseason. For me it's a time for me to get stronger and improve my baseball ability. I've already started to go back to the gym to get my leg strength, and arm strength better. Also i'm starting to work on batting right now. I'm holding my bat in a different way to prevent me from dropping my shoulder which causes me to fly out most of the time or just swing and miss. Also i'm shortening my stance so I can focus on just stepping once not twice like i'm doing right now as a bad habit.
This week I went to the gym twice and watched a lot of baseball this week with Davie playing in the Central piedmont conference tournament this week. I also went to watch the championship game even though we weren't in it. I'm also hitting of the tee a lot since legion ball is coming up soon in the summer. Also I've watched some hitting videos to see a way to stop lunging. Next week Davie plays in the in the state tournament so I'll probably watch that. Offseason is also a time to get some rest from practicing all week, and playing games twice or three times a week. So some days I just take off to rest and relax to get fully healthy for legion season.Where we have about 28 games in 30 days which is not a lot of rest. Also I might fill in for a travel ball team if they need fill in players since I've played travel ball all my life. My main rest time in the off season is in the winter time so this is a good time to get better.

The end of the season Week 95/4/2022 As we enter the final week of the regular season I hope to get a few hits before the season ends. We have a series against Glenn, and a game against Forbush. Against Glenn I had a good series I went 1-4 with a good base hit, and had two walks. Against Forbush I had a bad game like other people did I went 0-3 with a couple of strikeouts, but the pitcher we faced was really good. We finished the seson 12-7 a lot better than last season. We only had two wins last season.
I finished the season with six hits which with the number of at bats I had was about a 125 average which to me is really bad. The whole season I had trouble seeing the baseball through the zone which killed my power, and I ended up getting jamed or hitting it off the end of the bat. I did improve my stats from last year since I had one at bat last year so my average last year was 000 so my average was higher. I was really trying to get it above 200 which is a respectable. My fielding average was really good I think I only had two errors this whole year and they weren't bad errors, but they were costly at some points. To get ready for next season I'm really going to work on my batting approach. Right not i'm longing in the box and double toe tapping which really kills my power so I aim to fix that in the off season with the legion league starting up soon. Also I'm going to the gym to get my upper and lower body stronger for next season. Also to work on my endurance, and agility to be faster to beat out some weak contact because in varsity that's where you get hit's in varsity baseball. Hopefully I cant do better next year.

Week 8 a rest week4/24/2022 This week I don't have a whole lot to talk about we only had one game against Forbush that we won 9-3 which was a big win for us since they beat us pretty bad last year. I didn't really have much of an impact at the plate going 0-3 with two strikeouts the other one I got on base with an error. This was sort of a knock the rust week for me since I missed a few games on spring break, and I didn't practice much. So this was mainly a rest week so we can get ready for our final week of the season with three games. This was also a week where I started to get my swing comfortable again.
My average is now 128 which for me is not a good average. I'm trying to get rid of a power killer in my swing when I tap my foot twice in the box it decreases my power a lot so i'm trying to fix that.

Week 7 Progress4/19/2022 This week I played two games both against a really good East Davidson team. In the first game I went one for three with a hard hit single. The next game I went 0-2 but I got on with a fielders choice, and I didn't strikeout this week either which I see as progress. My fielding wasn't the best this week. I got burn't twice by a hitter that can absolutely kill the ball even when I played deeper in the field than normal, but I did make some good catches which helped my team in tough situation.
Also this week we played west which is our biggest rival they one the first game 6-3,but then we on the next game 3-1. That game I made some really good plays in the field, but not much luck at the plate. I got hit by a pitch and absolutely robbed by the shortstop, but we won one game that's all that matters. My average is now around 150 which is still bad but it's better than 100 batting average. My fielding percentage however went down. I have improved this week but I still have a long ways to go if I want to reach a 200 average. I have been working on not lunging when I'm batting which decreases my power which means I can't drive the ball to the outfield. I also need to go back to the gym to increase my strength and ability to be faster to beat throws from the infield. If I stay back on the ball and stop lunging I will get a lot more power in my swing. Hopefully the last three games go well,.

Week 6 March 30th, 20223/30/2022 This week we only had one game since the other game got canceled. Which means I don't have a lot of stats to show you this week other than I went 1 for 3 with a single and a walk and two runs. On the down side I had two strikeouts but only one counted because of the drop third strike rule. (Where if the catcher drops the ball or if the ball is in the dirt the catcher has to throw it to first base if the base is unoccupied). Which is how I got on but to me it was still a strikeout .
Next week we face our biggest rival, and the team that is probably the best in the confrence West Forsyth. Last year was a bad year against them expecially for Jv we only scored two runs against them in two games last year which is really bad. I'm actually optimistic this time he seem to be playing better than last year, and hopefully we can pull off the upset against them this year. Last year I didn't play against them because I was a bench player and I didn't get to bat that time but it's going to be different this time. We''ll see this time west. Against West Forsyth I have to be at the top of my game which i'm not right now. In order to face the tougher west pitchers. For starters I have to shorten up my swing which will make me quicker to the ball so I can make solid contact with it, something that i've struggled with this year. They also will through a bunch of breaking balls which really aren't meant to be strikes, for the batter to chase them so I have to have a good eye for that. We'll see what faith has instore for my stats this upcoming week.

Week 4 a little better.3/20/2022 Back for week three of my blog posts on my baseball stats. This week was a little bit better than last week when I only got one hit which was a double and no walks. This week I got two hits which lead to big rallies for our lineup. One hit was a bunt single that lead to the bases loaded then the next batter bunted two people in and then I scored on a wild pitch. I also got walked a good bit of times in our first game against East Forsyth which is one of our big rivals. We won both of those games which brings our record to 6-1 and a sweep against them which feels better than getting swept by them last year.
Also this week we faced better competition but we were up for the challenge this week we had two walk off wins. With the better competition I struck out more times than I did for the first two weeks on some really good pitches by the pitchers. Which brought by average down a little bit but the two hits this week helped by overall average. This week I fielded a lot more plays then I did the previous week. The catches I made helped my team get outs and limit errors that could hurt our team. We also did allow much runs this week which helped us with my and the teams bats weren't two hot. To get better this week we have practice on Monday I'm defintely going to work on my swing. It hasn't been the best recently with me dipping my shoulder which pops the balls straight up which doesn't help my team at all. I'm working on a technique that coach Joey showed me which helped me in the fall on my travel ball team. If I do that swing during the game it will help by batting a lot. This week we play Reagan which is one of the best baseball teams in the state so we have to have a error free game to beat them.

Week 33/20/2022 This week stat wise was okay yet just having one game this week due to rain delays. This week in the only game against Glenn where I went 1 for 4 with a double and a reach on error. Which ends up in a 250 batting average which I think was a good day. My hit wasn't very hard hit but it was a hit nonetheless. I'm still working on new batting techniques which coach Joey has shown me over the last week. Like putting my hands higher on the handle which makes me shorter to the ball to help me make more solid contact.
Along with those new batting techniques I have postioned by self closer to the plate in the box which helps me reach the outside pitch more easily. One at bat I moved the runner to 2nd when the pitcher throw me an outside pitch, and I grounded out to first ( which to right handed is a backside hit). Since this week I didn't have much practice or games I went to the gym more. I mainly focused on my arms to increase my hand speed threw the zone. Also worked on my legs tow work on my speed to beat out throws. Working on my legs also gets me faster in the outfield. Next week I hope to improve my stats from this past week. We have four games next week two are in conference play so we will face better teams which will be hard but we'll overcome it. When we play East Forsyth they'll probably have faster pitching. The putting your hands higher on the handle on the bat will help with that to make my hands a little faster threw the zone. It might be better for me facing faster pitchers because i'm struggling with slower pitchers right now especially staying on time. I hope the more games I play the more chances I get to bat which I hope to get hits in those at bats.

Week 2 not so good.3/20/2022 3/9/2022
What's up guys this is by week 1 blog post for my genius hour project. This wasn't a very good week for me going 1-10 at the plate which is only a 100 batting average. I'm making really solid contact but i'm not getting the benefit of the doubt when I hit it right to the fielders. I'm still working on my swing which on some i'm getting under the ball which means it's an easy fly out instead of hard line drives. Or when I roll my hands over and it's a weak ground ball to the third baseman. I'm also working on my postion in the box which can determine on how far I can reach to hit the ball. If i'm not right on top of the plate it's hard to reach the outside part of the plate where the pitcher mainly works to get weak contact. So i've been getting really up on the plate which has increased by range to hit the ball and i'm hitting it harder. Also I really need to work on my speed because today I laid down a perfect bunt that I really did beat out but we were up by ten so the ump decided to call me out bummer, if was just one fraction of a second faster I would have been safe. To improve form last weeks stats and into the new week. I will start taking more BP swings which will help me stablelize my bat path which will help me hit hard line drives to all fields. I will start looking at some new drills to keep my bat in the zone as long as I can to ensure maximum velocity. Whatever I do next week it can't be as bad as I did this week at the plate. The next blog most will be out next week with more stats from the new week. |
